Studio Policy

Materials:

Although I maintain a large library of materials and often have duplicates, please sure your child brings their books with them each week.  A bag specified just for piano lesson books is a great way to keep the materials together at the piano and so you can just grab and go when lesson day comes.

Payment Policy:

Lessons are billed at a monthly rate (for the current rate, please visit my Tuition page).  This rate is the same no matter the number of lessons per month.  Payments may be made in cash, by check (made payable to Kristen Taylor) or via credit or debit card through your online account at http://normanpianolessons.com/myaccount.  Lesson payments are due the first of the month and are considered late if not received by the 10th.  A late fee of $15 will be added to your account if payment is not received by the 10th and your lessons will be suspended until payments have been made.

Books will be added to your monthly bill on an as needed basis.  You will be notified ahead of time of the approximate cost of the new materials.

Cancellation Policy:

Music lessons require continual repetition and reinforcement of materials in order to progress.  As such, it is imperative that your child attend their lessons regularly.  Families will be granted 2 Missed Lesson Passes to be used at any point throughout the year.  After you have used your two passes, there will be NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS FOR MISSED LESSONS.  Makeups will be granted at the sole discretion of the teacher and may be scheduled online through the studio calendar which can be accessed at http://normanpianolessons.com/myaccount.  These available times are the only times makeups will be offered.  Students that repeatedly and excessively miss lessons will be dismissed.

Teacher Cancelled Lessons: In the event that the teacher needs to cancel the lessons for the day, those lessons will be made up at a time convenient to both teacher and student.

Practice Policy:

Although I do not maintain a rigid practice policy, it is expected that every student will be making forward progress through their materials.  Should you be having difficulty with practice at home or should I encounter a lack of forward progress over a period of time, we will schedule a time to re-evaluate our course to help your child get back on track.  I understand that life happens and from time to time schedules prevent daily practice.  However, a child that is not working in some manner on the six days between lessons will not progress.

Severe Weather Policy:

I follow the Norman Public Schools weather cancellations.  If the Norman Public Schools are closed due to severe weather, there will be no lessons or classes.  There are no refunds for missed lessons due to weather cancellations.  In the event of a prediction of severe weather in the spring time (days where tornado threats are almost guaranteed) it is at the discretion of the teacher to cancel lessons for the day.  Your children’s safety is my first priority.  In this case, as it is a weather cancellation, no refunds will be given but makeups will be offered.

Social Media Policy:

I maintain a studio website, facebook page, and twitter account.  From time to time I would like to include audio recordings, videos or images from studio events.  You have the option to exclude/include your child through the following policy.

* All parents are required to complete the Social Media Release Form even if you are choosing not to participate.
* Parents will always be notified prior to any photos, videos, or audio recordings being made at studio events.
* Students will never be identified by last name, school, school grade, or age.  You have the option to allow identification by first name, first initial or not at all.
* Students will be identified by piano grade level & studio activity. ie: “This our Pre-Piano camp working on placing clefs on the staff!” or “Some 2nd year students playing a duet.”
